Rustic Victorian table
£475.00 - Now Sold
A rustic Victorian kitchen or scullery table with pine top and original paint on the base. The plank top with pegged rail at either end is well worn and characterful, with some traces of old filler between the planks. The top retains the simple, original timber fixing pivots on the underside.
The table has a drawer at either end with plain, brass drop handles and key-holes (but no keys).
The H-stretcher base with simple, tapered legs is very attractive, as a result of the ageing and wear to the original black paint, which has an interesting, crackled texture.
This is a solid, sturdy table, which would work very well as a kitchen prep table. It could also be used as a dining table, but please note that the height to the underside of the frieze is 54 cm, so it wouldn't work combined with the seat height of some dining chairs. (Although antique castors could always be added to the legs to address this.)
